Introduction to the medico legal psychological report
This includes a précis of the instructed psychologist’s qualifications, summary of the case and conclusions, a note of the persons involved and a confirmation that there are no conflicts of interest.
Issues to be addressed
In this section we summarise the case and note your questions to be addressed.
Investigation of the facts
We confirm the documents that have been reviewed, this is likely to include GP records, hospital records, therapy notes and witness statements. We report on the interview and assessment of your client. We give brief details of the incident and a background history of your client including a note of the physical and psychological injuries sustained. In this section we also include psychometric test measures and report on how your client may be psychologically affected by avoidance, hyperarousal and associative thinking, anger and irritability, preoccupation with the accident, intrusive thoughts and sleep disturbance.
Opinion
In this section, based upon the investigation of the facts, we give a diagnosis, an opinion on condition, prognosis and, if required, causation.
Conclusions
We summarise our findings and give recommendations for any necessary specific psychological treatment.
Declaration
Our report declaration meets the requirements of Part 35 and Practice Direction 35 and includes a Statement of Truth.

Our psychologists are experienced in providing Joint Expert Statements and attending meetings with Counsel. Many of our psychologists have completed formal expert witness training for Court appearances.
